On their new album “Romantic”, Philadelphia’s Mannequin Pussy kick things off with the frenzied “Kiss”, a short punk blast that disintegrates in a flaming, noisy mess towards the end.
Oh man, I do not envy this woman’s life! Lourdes (Marta Milans) works as a cleaning lady at a restaurant in New York City. All she does is work. No friends. No family. And the few people she does run into, are mostly assholes. On top of that, she doesn’t even get to enjoy what little she makes, because she has to send it home for her sick son’s operation. No fun. And as if all that isn’t enough yet, she is pretty sure there might be an evil force lurking within the walls of the restaurant, wanting to torment her. Yeah. That has ‘shitty day’ written all over it.
When The Conjuring became a hit movie three years ago, it was an obvious no-brainer that there would be a sequel. The storyline was easy. After all, they had plenty of source material to work with seeing as the real Ed and Lorraine Warren have performed thousands of ‘real’ exorcisms since the fifties.
Based on the short-lived 1976 TV series, Electra Woman & Dyna Girl are making a comeback. Or well, getting a reboot. The original actresses, who are well in their sixties now, have been replaced by Grace Helbig and Hannah Hart, two YouTube celebs who originally conceived this as an eight-episode web series.
Because we didn’t have enough movies yet that were based on young adult novels (Divergent, Hunger Games, Twilight,…), they decided to turn another series into a movie. Because… you know, there is money to be made with franchises.
Based on a trilogy by fantasy writer Rick Yancey, The 5th Wave follows a girl named Cassie (Chloë Grace Moretz) who leads your average teenager life until aliens show up and unleash a series of attacks designed to wipe out the entire human race. Suddenly, prom doesn’t seem like that big a deal anymore.
