Here’s another one about a haunted house. Where some dude offed his wife, her lover and his kids before committing suicide. Something the protagonists in this movie find out about when they visit the haunted house’s website before exploring it themselves. About five minutes in, you are hoping they will all die. Fast.
Sugar Mountain wastes no time getting to the point. Brothers Miles (Drew Roy) and Liam (Shane Coffey) find their fishing boat, their only means of income, impounded. On top of that, Miles owes a local thug (Jason Momoa) even more money. In an effort to make all their financial troubles go away, they come up with a get-rich-quick scheme that involves Miles faking his disappearance in the Alaskan wilderness, then magically coming back and selling his story for a shitload of money. But of course things don’t work out quite the way the thought.
When I came across Springfield, IL’s Attic Salt earlier this year, they immediately won me over.

The year is 2007 and while the war in Iraq is officially over, people are still getting killed. When a couple of guys working on a pipeline in the desert end up getting shot, two American soldiers are sent in to assess the damage. Turns out it’s a setup and the two of them end up getting shot themselves by an infamous and extremely lethal Iraqi sniper. While his buddy is slowly bleeding out in the sand, Isaac (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) manages to find shelter behind a rickety wall.
