You know how you used to start a band because you were bored and had friends that were bored too? Well, apparently that’s still a valid enough reason once you become a dad. Jeff Schroeck (The Ergs!, Black Wine) and Brian Gorsegner (Night Birds) both entered fatherhood within a relatively short time span and found their other bands in varying stages of hibernation. So they got Evan Kiel to join on bass and started cranking out tunes under the Character Actor moniker.

What those tunes sound like? Well, kinda like what you would expect from a crossbreed between The Ergs! and Night Birds. These songs are loud, kinda scruffy and poppy in a jangly Lemonheads kinda way. These four songs won’t make you reconsider all of your life choices, but it’s a perfectly fine way to spend all of eight minutes.

  2. What I Learned from Righteous Cowboys
  3. On Rubicon Beach

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
