The Hold Steady - Thrashing Through The Passion

Just after the new year, we headed up to Woodstock to The Isokon studio to record some new songs. We were joined by Producer Josh Kaufman and Engineer D. James Goodwin, who have helped us record everything we've done for the past few years.

It was a highly productive session, we pretty much just set up and cranked through the songs. The songs came together quickly and we were psyched on how they sounded. Overdubs happened back in Brooklyn, with our friends Stuart Bogie and Jordan McLean adding horns and Annie Nero doing some backup vocals.

Sheer Mag - A Distant Call

SHEER MAG return with their sophomore album, A Distant Call. They're still writing about surviving our current hellscape, but this time around, the politics get extra-personal. It's heavy power-pop so sleek it gleams. "We've been waiting to write these songs since we started the band and we were able to take these experiences and build a story out of them," notes front woman Tina Halladay. The album verges on being a concept piece, and the protagonist resembles Halladay herself. The songs document a particularly alienating time in her life when she was laid off from a job.

Off With Their Heads - Be Good

Off With Their Heads announced that their forthcoming album 'Be Good', will be out on August 16th through Epitaph Records.

“All the other records were about moping around and feeling sorry for yourself,” says frontman Ryan Young. “This one is less about feeling sorry for yourself and more about accepting how goddamn miserable you are.”

HR - Give Thanks

Bad Brains frontman HR will be releasing his new solo album 'Give Thanks' on Oct 18th via Hardline Entertainment.

Paul “HR” Hudson is best known as the front man of the iconic punk band Bad Brains, formed in 1979. With unprecedented speed and precision, Bad Brains took the Washington, DC music scene by storm and quickly became the most influential band in American punk history, breaking down cultural barriers and creating emotionally charged music centered on the message of maintaining a positive mental attitude (PMA). This concept of PMA continues to inspire HR’s fans.
