Can you smell what The Whiffs are cookin? Hint: it’s not Phish, Meatloaf or a String Cheese Incident. Nope – Kansas City’s prodigal sons of power pop are sticking to what they know on 'Another Whiff,' their debut full-length for Dig! Records which will be released on December 6th.
Welcome to Somewhere City, the debut full-length album from Washington, D.C.’s Origami Angel. After an initial collection of releases that dove deep into the surface-level stuff that helps keep our minds off of ourselves––video games (like on their latest EP and Somewhere City prequel Gen 3), TV shows, fantasy worlds, and food––this young indie/emo two-piece has created a universe all their own on their long-awaited debut. Somewhere City is Origami Angel’s ultimate manifestation of escapism.
Wire have announced details of a new album, Mind Hive, set for release on January 24, 2020 via the band’s own label pinkflag.
The band’s seventeenth studio album sees the definitive post-punk group continue a run of stellar releases, showcasing a band on peak form 40 years into their hugely influential career.
“I think early on as a band, we were trying to be one thing - a punk and ska band,” says Glenn Stewart, drummer for Clearwater, FL’s punk band VICTIMS OF CIRCUMSTANCE (VOC). “When it came time to write the fifth album, we didn't want to do that. There wasn't any specific direction. In the end, we all feel like we've achieved a bigger, more mature sound that still has that great VOC flavor.”
