Along with its title, titanic emo punk compositions, and melodic beauty, Never Before Seen, Never Again Found feels like a defining record of a new generation of emo because of where it’s from: three young people grappling with the brutality, confusion, and deep-rooted family traumas of 21st century life amid the funerals, farm fields, and stripmalls of a rural, small-town Ontario community, with little hope of getting out.
NOFX dropped Single Album last February, and now the second half of the double album, appropriately titled Double Album, will be released on December 2nd. It boasts ten songs and is available for pre-order now.
At this point in your career, why do a double album?
Songs of the Highlands, Songs of the Sea track listing:
White Lung is back! This winter brings their fifth and final, chaotic, bold and hook-driven album, Premonition. It’s a whirlwind of driving drums, intricate guitar work, and no-holds-barred lyrics about motherhood, pregnancy, and growth. The themes are deeper. The interplay between guitarist Kenneth William and drummer Anne-Marie Vassiliou is more complex, the sound more cohesive. During an unintentional five year hiatus, White Lung managed to grow up without settling down, and the trio has emerged out of its transformative period with raw, feral energy.
Massachusetts's finest indie punk outfit, Born Without Bones, have returned to announce their upcoming new album, Dancer, due out November 4th from Pure Noise Records. Since their formation, Born Without Bones have put together an impressive catalog that ranges from heart-on-sleeve punk, to biting alternative rock, to sweeping indie, and more. Now on Dancer the band sound undeniably like themselves, bridging all of their different influences into their own distinctly hook sound.
Pacific Northwest hardcore upstarts, Punitive Damage, have announced their debut full-length, This Is The Blackout, due out October 14th from Atomic Action Records. Flying by in just 18 minutes, the album is a blast of concentrated fury that demands the listener's attention and never lets go. Vocalist Jerkova brings an uncompromising worldview that lends a palpable urgency to the band's sound, creating a connection between the songs and real life stakes.
