Jill (Caitlyn Folley) is an LA girl who considers herself something of an artist while actually not doing a lot more than spending her days shopping and having sex in public spaces with her camera-obsessed boyfriend Adam (Ian Duncan). When they head off to an abandoned hospital with the idea of checking the place out for an exposition, they decide to film a sex tape there. As a joke, Adam restrains Jill to a bed and pretends to leave. While he’s gone, an evil spirit enters Jill in what has to be one of the most non-frightening and ridiculous-looking scenes ever in a horror flick.
Teaming up once again with director Peter Hyams, Jean-Claude Van Damme gets to play the villain this time around. And while “Enemies Closer” won’t get anywhere near the commercial impact “Sudden Death” and “Timecop” had, it makes for an okay B-movie. You know, the kind of no-brainer you’d go out and rent on a Sunday afternoon back when there were still video stores? If anything, you need to see this just because we get to see Van Damme dressed up as a Mountie with a haircut that even Nicolas Cage would say no to.
