In October, 2020, over 40 years after the founding members parted ways, The Damned announced a series of reunion shows with the original line-up consisting of Dave Vanian (vocals), Brian James (guitar), Captain Sensible (bass), and Rat Scabies (drums). Due to the pandemic, they were forced to postpone the shows until 2022. November 3rd, 2022, saw the band performing at the fully-packed O2 Apollo in Manchester, UK, delivering an energetic 21-song set taken from their first two albums, DAMNED DAMNED DAMNED and MUSIC FOR PLEASURE, the only albums to feature the four founding members.

Now, you should probably emphasize the “era” in the phrase “grunge era”—Fig Dish wasn’t grunge and were far more likely to be compared to midwestern bands like Cheap Trick, the Replacements, and Hüsker Dü. And like those bands, Fig Dish had a penchant for combining pop melodies, noisy guitars, and angsty lyrics.

Omnigone, the ska-punk band helmed by former Link 80 members Adam Davis and Barry Kripene, have announced their third album, Feral, due July 26 via Bad Time Records. For this album, the band has a new permanent lineup featuring labelmates and friends Brent Friedman (ex-We Are The Union) on drums, Russ “Ike” Wood (Eichlers) on guitar, and Nick Tournie (Noise Complaint) on guitar. It was recorded with past collaborator Jack Shirley, who’s also worked with Joyce Manor, Jeff Rosenstock, Deafheaven, and more.
