From Frankenstein to Re-Animator and Pet Semetary, bringing things back from the dead has never turned out to be a good idea. That however doesn’t stop a group of researchers led by Frank (Mark Duplass) and his fiancée Zoe (Olivia Wilde) from doing just that.
Meet Jerry (Ryan Reynolds), a friendly dude who works at the Milton Bathtub Factory. He lives in an apartment with his dog, Bosco, and his cat, Mr. Whiskers. Small-town life, right? Except for the fact that Jerry never quite recovered from a childhood trauma and as a result, suffers from bouts of schizophrenia during which he holds conversations with his dog, his cat and the head of one of his dates (Gemma Arterton) that he keeps stocked in his fridge. If Lisa (Anna Kendrick) knew about this, she probably wouldn’t go out with the guy. But she doesn’t. Not right away at least.
Remember that Proclaimers song? I would walk 500 miles and I would walk 500 more? That’s what Cheryl Strayed (Reese Witherspoon) does in this movie. Strayed doesn’t cope well with the sudden loss of her mother and pretty much makes a complete mess of her life. There’s some drug abuse. There are anonymous sex partners. Both of which don’t sit well with her husband, who consequently leaves her.

On “Adult Moods”, Brooklyn’s Adult Dude sound like a band that was cryogenically frozen back in the 90ies and then took until now to thaw.
Safe To Say get to call Canada home, but let’s not hold that against them. Especially not when they are cranking out tunes like the ones you can hear on their new six-song EP “Hiding Games”.

As far as modern hardcore goes, Counterparts have been doing a solid job ever since they started out in 2007. And that trend continues on their latest album, “Tragedy Will Find Us”.
The crossroads between pop-punk and post-hardcore has to be one of the most crowded ones around. That doesn’t seem to stop bands from trying to earn their place on one of the corners though.
Tobin Bawinkle is a busy person. Apart from his acoustic Americana project 6'10 - with which he supported grammy award winner Mike Ferris - he also plays in his folk punk band Flatfoot 56. Both bands will be on tour together this fall.
