Ghost In The Willow are a four-piece (sometimes eight-piece with horns), punk-inspired, rock ‘n’ roll band from Phoenix, Arizona. Formed initially as a solo project in 2016 by singer/songwriter/guitarist Gil Rodriguez, Ghost In The Willow have evolved from acoustic to side project to raging rag-tag band.
In addition to Rodriguez and after a numerous lineup changes, the band currently consist of longtime founder member Sean Harris on Drums, Ryan King on Bass, Zach Sealover on guitar, along with auxiliary touring and studio member Sam Camacho on violin. So far, the band have released numerous singles and EPs, drawing comparisons to Against Me!, mid-era Replacements, and a sloppy Rocket From The Crypt.
Last year saw the vinyl release of their previously digital-only EP, I Was Once A Charming Man, produced by Elijah Newman, along with a single called “Westerberg” a tongue-in-cheek tribute to one of Rodriguez’s biggest inspirations.
Already in 2025, the band have released singles/music “Self Control” featuring Brendan Scholz of Mercy Music on additional guitar and “Flick Of The Wrist.” Today the band releases another brand new single, “Still Here.” Watch the video below.
“One of our new favorites to play live, ‘Still Here’ is probably the bands most ambitious song to date,” says Rodriguez. From conception to tracking, ‘Still Here’ took eight years to complete and features a four-piece horn section as well as Sam Camacho on violin. It was also co-written by Sean Taylor of Portland’s own indie rock darlings The Angry Lisas. Lyrically the song is about a long evening out between friends and the mischief that ensues. Musically it rages from punk rock anthem to swirling sonic textures that dare we say dabbles in arena rock? The centerpiece of the song however is the four-piece horn section bringing the loaded melody of a toe tapper to life.
“Derrick Fish at FC Studio in Tempe tracked this one. Kyle McAulay mixed it and Nick Townsend mastered it. Vincent DeSantiago filmed and directed the playful video guerrilla style in the dives of Chicago while live footage of the band was used between scenes.”
Rodriguez awaits a kidney transplant at present, but upon his recovery the band plan on touring extensively to promote the new material.
