After adding Pat Kelliher (formerly of Make Do And Mend) to the line-up, The Stereo State is following up their debut full-length with a new EP. Now a five-piece, the band began work on the “Crossing Canyons” EP with the help of producer Jay Maas.
They kept the sound from “Have All My Friends Gone Deaf?” intact so you’ll still hear plenty of Samiam and Lifetime influences in the melodies along with a genuinely honest sound. But rather than being content with what they already achieved, the band played around with dynamics some more this time around. It makes “Crossing Canyons” a fun listen whose only downside is that it is too short.
Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
