Emerging from the vibrant New Jersey scene, All Under Heaven and High. have long shared stages and a mutual respect for each other. Now, the two bands are coming together for a split single release via Sunday Drive Records, featuring “Moving On” by All Under Heaven and “Someone You Adore” by High. The 7” captures the essence of what each group does best, offering listeners a compelling snapshot of two rising voices in East Coast alternative music. We caught up with both bands to talk about the split.
PRT: What brought you two together for this split release?
Michael (All Under Heaven): We have been friends with the High. folks for a few years now. Back in 2023, I released their debut EP on cassette on my label Suburban Creep along with Julias War out of Philly. Ever since then we have remained friends and have played a bunch of gigs together.
Christian (High.): Their whole crew has been supportive and encouraging. We did a lot of shows together and a lot of tour dates so it just made sense. Dirty jersey forever!
PRT: Can you tell us about the song you contributed to the split? And why did you choose this one?
Bridget (High.): It's kind of a shorter, louder song for us that we've been playing for a while. People have been asking when that song will come out and if we were releasing just one song we wanted it to bang.
Michael (All Under Heaven): This song we wrote specifically to be used for this split with High. We recorded it with Justin Bartlett at the legendary Studio 4 in Conshohocken, PA. Our track was mastered by Will Yip which is pretty awesome. All of us are big fans of a bunch of the records Will has worked on.
PRT: Did you talk to each other beforehand to see if the songs kinda went together, or was it more of a “you do your side, we’ll do ours” kind of deal?
Bridget (High.): No we didn't at all until the songs were already done ;)
Michael (All Under Heaven): Both of our bands are in the same wheelhouse sonically, so we didn’t feel the need to really coordinate too much. I was psyched when we got the masters back for High’s track because they have been playing it live for a little while now and the track fucking rips!
PRT: What does releasing music on vinyl—especially a 7”—mean to you in 2025, when everything’s digital and disposable?
Michael (All Under Heaven): Ever since I started playing in bands, having a release on vinyl has always been one of my biggest goals. There’s nothing like sitting down with a record, lyric sheet in hand, going through all of the liner notes and thank yous. I love how music can be very communal, but also can be so intimate. When spending time with a record you get sucked into a totally unique world and i think that’s a really special experience.
Bridget (High.): It's sick! We love it and a lot of people seem to too. We feel really lucky, it's expensive to do and a lot of work and it's taken us a while to get our music on vinyl but it's here.
PRT: How would you describe each other’s band in one sentence?
Bridget (High.): Tough yet vulnerable and ethereal, by wildly talented young scene veterans.
Michael (All Under Heaven): Warm and blissful
PRT: What are your all-time favorite New Jersey bands?
Michael (All Under Heaven): Shoutout to fellow Freehold rocker Bruce Springsteen. Also much love to The Misfits, Deadguy, Turning Point, Thursday, Armor For Sleep, The Early November, My Chemical Romance. Sure there’s a ton of other great ones that should be included, but that’s what came off the top of my head
Bridget (High.): MCR, Armor for Sleep, Yo La Tengo, Fountains of Wayne, Thursday, All natural lemon and lime flavors, Dead Guy, The Banner, Bayway, Negative Force
PRT: Any plans to play shows together or tour in support of the release?
Bridget (High.): Yes, August 12th in Garwood NJ with Rival Schools
