Long Island's Nervous Laugh have shared their new single, 'Mind Game.'
Nervous Laugh emerged in 2020 amidst a swirl of uncertainty and raw energy, carving out a space in the shadowy corners of the ’90s-inspired underground scene. With roots stretching between the suburban streets of Long Island and the eclectic vibe of Los Angeles, the band’s sound is a haunting blend of distorted guitars, restless rhythms, and lyrics that linger just beyond reach. Dan Yllanes’s vocals cut through the haze with a gritty intensity, while Cj Tyler’s bass lines weave a hypnotic undercurrent, grounded by Chris Ellwood’s relentless drumming. Together, they conjure a unique aura that’s equal parts nostalgic and avant-garde, hinting at stories only half-remembered.
The band's debut full length, “Plastic” recorded over the span of spring 2022 to summer 2023 and produced by the enigmatic Jon Markson, captures the restless spirit of a band still finding its voice but ready to leave its mark. Nervous Laugh’s music feels like a secret whispered through the static—a fleeting glimpse into a world that’s both familiar and unknown. As they continue to split their time and energy between two coasts, the band remains shrouded in a kind of mystique, inviting listeners to unravel their story one distorted chord at a time.
