Having kicked off the year opening for Alexisonfire and The Distillers on their stadium tour, Montreal’s NOBRO have now set in motion the next part of their plan to take over the world with the release of ‘Sick Hustle’. Featuring four blistering punk rock meets sleazy garage by way of grunge songs, this EP comes at you no holds barred.

Opening track ‘Don’t Die’ immediately turns the pace up all the way to ‘scorching’, reaching an intensity level that rivals that of PUP. ‘Til I Get It All’ heads down the same path but adds tons of gang vocals and more badass riffage. The co-write with Alex Edkins of METZ that is ‘Don’t Wanna Talk About It’ is a more sludgy affair that shows another side of NOBRO. Equally in-your-face though.

Sick Hustleends way too soon with ‘Marianna,’ about the band’s original guitarist who moved away. The song is catchy as hell and not only packs the EP’s best chorus, but also a bongo solo. Bongos? Damn right!

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
