Southern California melodic punk veterans Gameface are back with All My Friends, a two-song 7” released via Iodine Recordings, marking their first new music in over a decade. The release finds the band reflecting on friendship, aging, loss, and the quiet struggles that often go unspoken.
Unfortunately, the material itself struggles to make a lasting impression. Title track “All My Friends” gets off to a promising start, but loses steam right at the chorus. Meanwhile, B-side “Men Of Stone” simply trickles along. And while there is nothing inherently wrong with the track, it fails to captivate in any meaningful way.
Having always had a soft spot for Gameface, it’s disappointing that these two songs leave little to get excited about. They are perfectly adequate. But when a band returns after ten years, nobody is hoping for just adequate.
Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
