What originally started as a collaboration between Rat Boy’s Jordan Cardy and Preston (The Ordinary Boys) quickly evolved into a multi-generational, skanking supergroup. Joined by Tim Armstrong (Rancid), Antonee First Class (The English Beat), Jesse Michaels (Operation Ivy), and fellow Hellcat labelmates The Calamatix, The Family Business Ltd.’s self-titled debut came together in a whirlwind two weeks.
What do you get? Ten track’s worth of pure 2-Tone that will get everyone moving the second the opening blast of "Floor Burner" kicks in. Tracks like "Shakedown" and "Detonator" keep the party going, while "Still A Jamaican" lets toaster Antonee take center stage. Though some tracks lean on a familiar blueprint, neat subtle details give each song its own identity. The peak of the record is the ridiculously catchy "Bambi". If every song hit this hard, this would be an instant classic. As it stands, it’s still one hell of a fun 24-minute ride.
