Produced and mixed by Matt Williams and Jack Longman (Higher Power), Clobber's new three-track EP God Loves, Man Kills shows them at their nastiest and most ambitious.
The London-based streetcore quartet burns through three songs in just 6 minutes and 40 seconds and they do so with reckless abandon. If you have already heard the downright brutal ‘Be Someone,’ you know what you are in for. Dealing with overcoming mental health struggles and being the best version of yourself, this one is the pick-me-up you need to get going in the morning. Opener ‘Do Less’ is even better as it blends ‘77 style punk with raging hardcore and tons of gang vocals and they round things out with the title track, which sees the band taking aim at foreign policy and war crimes.
‘God Loves, Man Kills’ is like an exercise in conciseness, trimming all the fat and keeping things lean and mean. Clobber excel at using songs as blunt weapons that will put you on your ass. Apparently there’s a full-length on the way too so keep your ears peeled for that one. If this EP is anything to go by, I can't wait to get pummeled again.
