Even though “Jobs” starts with the launch of the iPod in 2001, the story centers around Steve Jobs’ college years, his time spent at Atari, him launching Apple from a garage, then leaving the company in 1985 before returning in 1996 at the end of the movie. Briefly mentioned are the rivalry with Microsoft (in one scene) and the fact that for years Jobs refused to recognize his daughter. The biggest problem of “Jobs” is that writer Matt Whiteley never really digs below the surface. As a result this is more the story of the legend, not the man.
The retired and extremely dangerous gang consisting of Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren and John Malkovich is back! But is that a good thing?
Saying that this movie adaptation of the 1930s radio series didn’t do too well at the box office is kind of an understatement. It completely flopped. And even that is understating things. Critics even went as far as saying that this one was worse than Will Smith’s 1999’s “Wild Wild West” fiasco. Now, that’s saying something. Personally, I didn’t think it was just that bad but that’s mostly because this movie comes without a huge mechanical spider.
One of two films Paul Walker finished before he died in a car crash late last year is “Hours”, a movie that takes place in a New Orleans hospital just as Katrina is about to hit. Walker plays Nolan Hayes, a husband whose wife Abigail (Genesis Rodriguez) is rushed to the hospital when she goes into labor five weeks early. Unfortunately she dies while giving birth, leaving Nolan behind with their newborn baby who needs to be fed through an IV and is placed in a ventilator where she has to remain for at least 48 hours.
I wasn’t exactly in awe of Ex Friends’ previous release - the 5-song EP “No Wonder We Prefer The Dark” – which could’ve been left in the dark as well as far as I was concerned.
While we were out celebrating Christmas, the guys in Masked Intruder were no doubt scouting houses to break into.
The name Imperial State Electric didn’t immediately ring any bells. But the name Nicke Andersson does. Because who hasn’t heard of the Hellacopters?
Following up “Self-Entitled”, NOFX comes out swinging with a new 6-song EP.
