Kicking things off with a glorious live version of I Want The Moon, this album works both as a perfect introduction to Leatherface and as an essential addition to any diehard fan’s collection.

As the title suggests, The Peel Sessions compiles all three recording sessions Leatherface did at the BBC’s Maida Vale studios during the 1990s, at the request of John Peel himself.

The band’s perfectly captured live energy, combined with Frankie Stubbs’ inimitable gravelly vocals, makes it easy to hear why they’ve influenced acts like Hot Water Music and Dillinger Four. It’s a real treat to have these sessions available on vinyl now, courtesy of the always-excellent Little Rocket Records.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
