The Vanites shared the video for new single “I’d Rather Die (Than Have A Job In A Tie)," taken off the Scottish band's upcoming EP "Your Kids Are Gonna Love It"
A collaborative filming effort between frontman Alan Hannah, photographer Daniel Blake and GGK, The Vanities-edited accompanying video is a compilation of all the things they’re missing at the moment. That’s everything from playing live shows and studio recording to simply meeting up with your friends. As it is currently against the law to leave home for recreational purposes, you can imagine how pent-up The Vanities are.
Alan Hannah explains the track:
“I’d Rather Die (Than Have A Job In A Tie) was written during a rough period of unemployment and being on the brew*. Is the grass always greener on the other side? Would I feel happier to pick the mundane option, joining the queue for the slaughterhouse? This tune is full of angst, disillusionment and utter non-compliance played fast, rough catchy n’ scratchy.”
He continues, giving insight on their upcoming EP:
“It’ll appear on our second extended play “Your Kids are Gonna Love It” which is our proudest record to date - it shows where we’re at now, through thin and thin and thinner…”
The Vanities will continue their partnership with Glasgow-based independent label 7 West Music (The Dunts, Spyres, The Roly Mo) with the release of “I’d Rather Die…” and forthcoming EP “Your Kid are Gonna Love it”, following 2020 singles “Reality TV” and “OTC”. Supporting the likes of punk legends Buzzcocks, The Ruts/Ruts DC and The Stranglers before the pandemic, The Vanities are ones to watch when it all opens back up.
