Montreal punks, FakeYou, are gearing up to release their debut album titled Promise to Disappear (59 X Records) and their new single, "100 Million Sheep" is streaming everywhere now. The band, which includes the former drummer of The Sainte Catherines, have a strong DIY ethos and lean into raw emotion — placing them in the same camp as cult favorites Leatherface. "100 Million Sheep" faces loss head on with an unhealthy dose of medication, nicotine, and lack of sleep.
"100 Million Sheep is about trying to make sense of someone with a fractured sense of self. The sleeplessness, the repeated counting, the endless wandering... they all reflect the tension between two versions of the same person and the way closeness can feel impossible when the person you need is also at odds with themselves. It's intimate, unstable, and strangely heartbreaking. I feel like it's something everyone feels at some point, but understand that it can become rather dangerous to fully embrace the duality."
Promise to Disappear will be released on Friday, April 3rd by 59 X Records.
