We’re excited to premiere the full album stream of Promise to Disappear, the debut LP from Montreal punk outfit FakeYou ahead of its official release this Friday, April 3rd via 59 X Records (buy your copy). Fans of Leatherface, Hot Water Music, The Flatliners and Off With Their Heads, should definitely check this one out. Fans of other bands should do the same.
Channeling loss and raw emotion into songs that hit with both urgency and vulnerability, FakeYou crafts a sound rooted in gritty melodies and driving rhythms. Their music balances raw intensity with moments of reflection, capturing the chaos that follows when devotion turns all-consuming.
Formed in Montreal’s fiercely active DIY punk scene, the band thrives in an environment defined by packed rooms, unconventional venues, and relentless energy. That spirit seeps into every track: emotionally charged, lived-in narratives delivered with striking immediacy.
Recorded, mixed, and mastered by Max Lajoie (Spite House), Promise to Disappear amplifies the band’s raw edge while preserving its emotional core. Lyrically, the album explores the aftermath of losing someone who once meant everything. A theme that was already evident in singles like “All About You,” spiraling through memory, madness, and longing.
Adding even more weight to their sound, FakeYou’s drummer is a former member of The Sainte Catherines, bringing a seasoned backbone that grounds the band’s volatile energy with precision and force.
With Promise to Disappear, FakeYou firmly establishes themselves as a band unafraid to sit in discomfort, transforming emotional wreckage into something loud, honest, and unforgettable instead.
