French-British pop punk band Second Best Shot have released “Blurry Years,” the opening track of their upcoming debut EP.

Formed in late 2025 in Annecy, France, the band brings together nostalgic 2000s pop punk influences, modern production and UK vocals. Their debut material was recorded near Lake Annecy and mixed in Sacramento, California.

“Blurry Years” focuses on the experience of looking back on younger years from the perspective of your forties. The song reflects on the nights, friendships and places that once seemed permanent, and the way those memories can feel increasingly distant with time.

The track explores the changes that can occur in long-standing friendships, particularly the experience of people who were once an important part of everyday life becoming strangers living separate lives. Memories that were once vivid can remain significant while the relationships themselves become unfamiliar.

These themes are central to Second Best Shot’s debut EP, which combines melodic hooks and emotional lyrics with the harder-edged sound associated with the pop punk of the early 2000s. The band draws on their own experiences to explore subjects including fading friendships, repeated patterns and the possibility of recognizing those patterns and making different choices.

For Second Best Shot, the project also represents a return to music they grew up with and an opportunity to pursue unfinished creative ambitions later in life.

“Blurry Years” is the first introduction to the band’s debut EP and sets the tone for a collection built around nostalgia, change, second chances and the realities of getting older.
