Borrowing the name from the totally forgettable 2001 sex comedy Wet Hot American Summer, Jagger Holly is back with album number five. Wet Hot European Summer packs 13 blasts of high-energy pop-punk that are, well... anything but forgettable.
Coming off the 29-song Rivoltella album, this one is an exercise in restraint for Jagger Holly. Recorded with a new line-up and mixed and mastered by 7 Years Bad Luck’s Tombo, Wet Hot European Summer packs all the catchy choruses, bright melodies and ooh’s and aah’s you can wish for in a pop-punk album. Is any new ground being broken on this album? Nope. Is that necessary? Absolutely not. Jagger Holly excels at writing the kind of 90’s melodic pop-punk songs that ooze fun and instant singalongability. Is that even a word? Who cares. Just listen to opener “Wish I Could See It”, “Already In Love” or “Fool For Love” with the volume turned way up!
