“Last Minutes & Lost Evenings” is not a new Frank Turner album, it rather serves as an introduction to the man’s work. Because even though Turner has already built quite the reputation for himself in the punkrock scene, there’s still plenty of people out there who have never even heard of this modern day troubadour.

Which is a damn shame because songs like “I Still Believe”, “Try This At Home”, “Long Live The Queen”, “Photosynthesis” and “The Ballad Of Me And My Friends” are classics. ‘English punkrock country songs’ is how he himself describes his music and that does indeed sound like an apt description. The guy knows how to write a good song and his ability to tell a story are unrivaled.

As a bonus you get a DVD of his sold-out Wembley Arena show in April 2012. I have to admit I liked Turner even more in a live setting when he was still performing his songs solo, but there’s no denying that he and his band are a force to be reckoned when you hear 12 000 voices singing the chorus of “I Still Believe”.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
