Besides being my favorite type of fruit (in case you were wondering, kiwis take second place), Cherry is also the name of Russell Edling’s new project. You know, Russell from the now defunct Kite Party.

“Gloom” comes with four tracks of psychedelic bedroom pop that feature Russell’s hazy vocals and which confirm the man’s firm grasp of melodic hooks. Everything sounds basic enough, yet it all works together beautifully and lifts the song to a whole new level. ”Golden Luv” immediately sets the tone and things only get better from there on. I mean, the bouncy “Alligators”? That song is addictive! And that cover of Fugazi’s “I’m So Tired” at the end is just the cherry on the cake. Make sure to check this one out and enjoy all that jangly goodness.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
