Florida melodic punks Lot Lizards (great name!) recently released their debut full-length The Horrors of Adulting on Punkerton Records. And to keep the party going, we are premiering the video for the band's latest single, 'Surprise Party.' Equal parts tongue-in-cheek and emotionally raw, the track captures the chaos of self-destruction and the bittersweet reality of growing older without losing your reckless edge. The new video mirrors the track’s explosive energy, blending dark humor with the band’s signature melodic punch.
“The Horrors of Adulting is about exactly what it sounds like,” says frontman Jon Barnes. “Being an adult is shitty most of the time. We were so fucking stupid for wanting it so bad when we were younger. If we only knew what a pain in the ass it would be…”
Released on July 25, 2025, The Horrors of Adulting is a 12-track blast of melodic punk that channels influences from Face to Face, Lagwagon, Propagandhi, Bigwig, and No Use for a Name—while injecting fresh urgency and Southern grit. From the moral fatigue of “Good Intentions” to the escapist daydreams of “Great Escapes,” Lot Lizards deliver anthems that are equal parts cathartic and catchy.
Since forming in 2021, the trio—Jon Barnes (vocals/guitar), Alex Trellu (bass/vocals), and Mikey Henk (drums)—have carved their place in Florida’s punk scene with fiery live shows and unapologetic honesty.
