The #1s are a very modest bunch of dudes out of Dublin who have been making the rounds for a couple of years only to now come out with a mature sound on their debut full-length. Well, as mature as you can get in power-pop… you’ll always end up sounding like an overeager 17-year-old with way too much energy if you do it right.

Imagine The Strokes having fun if you will…  or think of a healthy mix of The Buzzcocks, The Undertones, The Exploding Hearts and probably a bunch of other bands whose name starts with The. Feel free to dig in… there’s plenty of sweet guitar licks, catchy hooks, unbridled punky energy and a bit of brattiness to go round. The band bursts out of the gates with “Heartsmash” and keep the tempo high until “Girl” rolls around. After that it’s all up-tempo again until the slightly more mellow closer that is “Tell Me Why”. 10 songs, not a dud in sight… that’s the #1s alright!

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
