Post-hardcore trio 84 Tigers return with “Fathom,” the latest single from their forthcoming sophomore album Nothing Ends, due October 17 via Spartan Records.

“‘Fathom’ started as a random riff at the end of a practice,” recalls guitarist/vocalist Mike Reed. “Discordant, abrasive, and fun. It harkens back to something 90s, in the world of Handsome or Quicksand. It’s about running a marathon.”

Formed by brothers Mike and Ben Reed (Small Brown Bike) and longtime friend Jono Diener (The Swellers), 84 Tigers first broke through with their 2022 debut Time in the Lighthouse. But the road to Nothing Ends was marked by loss. After the passing of close friend and former bandmate Travis Dopp, Reed struggled to move forward. “Songs started and stopped. I questioned if losing a creative partner took the energy out of my process,” he says. “Then one day it broke—this mantra popped into my head: Tears in your eyes. Fist in the air. That became a path forward.”

Produced by Marc Jacob Hudson, Nothing Ends channels that grief into catharsis, balancing raw emotion with a taut, three-piece dynamic. From the aching tribute of “Two Rivers” to the soaring “Only Light” and the rallying cry of “Regeneration Days” (featuring Aaron Stauffer of Seaweed/Ghost Work), the record is as devastating as it is hopeful—culminating in the haunting closer, “Everything You Love.”
