Trade Wind--the indie rock project featuring members of Stick To Your Guns and Stray From The Path--has returned, announcing their upcoming sophomore full-length, Certain Freedoms. The album is due out April 26th from Other People Records (North America) and End Hits Records (EU/UK), and the band have also revealed "No King But Me" the record's first single. Certain Freedoms marks a significant sonic evolution for Trade Wind with the band diving headfirst into more melodic territory than ever before. "No King But Me" is a perfect distillation of this growth--a driving cut of sparkling guitars that steadily builds to a truly anthemic chorus--proving that Certain Freedoms' more experimental direction has only amplified Trade Wind's dynamic power.

Trade Wind is made up of vocalist/guitarist Jesse Barnett (Stick To Your Guns), guitarist Tom Williams (Stray From The Path), Randy LeBoeuf (acclaimed producer/engineer at Graphic Nature Audio), and drummer Andrew McEnaney. Certain Freedoms finds the band achieving new heights of emotional resonance, not through the distorted heaviness that marked much of their early work, but rather a mastery of nuanced dynamics and undeniable melodies. Williams and Barnett’s guitarwork is more varied than ever, favoring colorful textures as much as riffs, and washing over the songs as LeBoeuf and McEnaney’s muscular rhythm section supplies the backbone. Barnett’s vocal prowess shines throughout, ranging from a warm whisper to a powerful shout that breaks at the edges, but never loses clarity. It all makes for a fitting vessel for his lyrics: stories of friendships, relationships, childhood memories, and small moments that have big meanings. At first these snapshots may seem disparate, but they weave together into a bigger picture of acceptance, concern, and appreciation of chosen families, and the fragile connections that bind us with the ones we love.
