Chicago power-pop/punk veterans Woolworthy are back with a new single, “Can’t Press Rewind,” the first in a series of new releases planned for the coming months.

Originally formed in Chicago in 1995, Woolworthy built a following through the late ’90s and early 2000s with their combination of melodic hooks, driving guitars, and emotionally honest lyrics. The band toured extensively throughout the Midwest, the UK, and Europe before taking a lengthy hiatus.

Woolworthy returned in 2023 with Electric Heartbreak, followed by the Fall With You EP in 2025. Now, the band is kicking off the next chapter with “Can’t Press Rewind.”

According to the band's Rudy Gonzalez, the song came together in a sudden flash of inspiration and focuses on the feeling of watching someone you care about get stuck in a rut or struggle with depression and wanting to remind them of what truly matters.

“Life is short, and there are very few chances for a true do-over. The song is a reminder to embrace the time we have, take chances, fall down, get up, and live as fully as possible.”

“Can’t Press Rewind” captures the band's knack for pairing catchy, guitar-driven power-pop with lyrics that hit close to home. For fans of The Replacements, Soul Asylum, and Goo Goo Dolls, the new track offers another glimpse into Woolworthy’s evolving sound while staying true to the band's melodic punk roots.
