LA three-piece Sweet Gloom - Jaake Margo (Get Married) on lead vocals and guitar; Chris Clark (Tiny Stills) on bass and vocals; and Morris Carrillo on drums and backing vocals.- released their debut full-length album, Reverie, via Asian Man Records. While it may be the band’s first record, all three members are longtime veterans of the California DIY scene, and their experience shines in the confident, capable songwriting that permeates the album. Hooks, harmonies, breakdowns, singalongs – Reverie combines a keen understanding of genre tropes with a wealth of fresh ideas to forge a pop punk odyssey that’s at once urgent, nostalgic, and cathartic. You can check out the album below.

Whether you’re looking to scream along to every sweaty chorus, scrawl your favorite lyric on the cover of a dog-eared notebook, or punch the pedal to the floor as the tempo picks up, Reverie delivers over and over and over again. Slick guitar hooks spill into soul-churning gang vocals before the bottom drops out for one last anthemic chorus – and then the next track starts.

"Rock and roll is one of the most important aspects of my life," said Margo. "I’ve never really felt like I belonged anywhere else, and the only time I truly feel alive is in the pursuit of the perfect three-minute rock and roll song, in a gas station in the middle of nowhere on the way to a basement to play that perfect three-minute song to 20 kids, loading a van I can’t afford full of instruments I couldn’t afford, and doing it all again the next day. It really is the only thing that makes sense to me, writing songs about the looming sense of dread that haunts me, the pretty girl at the record store in the Ramones shirt, the loneliness, the hopelessness, and the yearning for something better."

Margo continues, "When I’m out there, I’m doing what I’m supposed to be doing, and Chris, Morris, and I made a record that reflects that directive. Reverie has 10 songs we wrote that reflect who we are at our core with no pretentiousness – just three guys who love rock and roll and rejected the future the world planned for us in favor of leather jackets, loud guitars, and a desperate passionate plea for a place to belong. We found that world in Reverie. I have 'I love rock and roll' tattooed on my wrist for a reason, and you’ll find it in our music. I hope this record means as much to you as it means to us, because you belong and we do, too."

Reverie is now available digitally on major streaming platforms, as well as on vinyl, via Asian Man Records.
