Melbourne-based alternative rock artist Dale Valentine has released “2000 Reasons,” taken off his new EP The Woods.. The track introduces the project’s energetic side, combining high-impact rock with a focus on the significance of everyday moments.

“2000 Reasons” explores the idea that small and fleeting details in daily life can provide unexpected sources of hope and resilience. The song centers on the beauty found in ordinary moments, presenting them as reminders of reasons to keep moving forward.

The single is part of The Woods, Valentine’s solo project following his time as vocalist and guitarist of the alternative rock power trio Kids on Neptune. After beginning the solo project with “Black Bile,” recorded in Adelaide and released in 2024, Valentine has taken an increasingly independent approach to his music.

For The Woods, Valentine performs all of the instruments himself with the exception of the drum parts. The EP will feature three tracks that move between energetic rock, melodic tension and darker cinematic atmospheres.

“2000 Reasons” serves as the most immediate and rock-oriented introduction to the release. Its focus on finding meaning in small details provides a contrast to the darker material explored elsewhere on the EP, including the title track “The Woods,” which addresses feelings of inner darkness and psychological confinement.
