Connecticut’s Wolves At Bay are a post-hardcore band that could be going places. “I Was The Devil Once” comes with six new songs that deserve a spot between the awesomeness that is Make Do And Mend and the more introspective tunes of Brand New.

Opener “Hide Like My Friends” is a riff-heavy track that demands your attention from the get-go, after which they switch gears with the angsty “Know Why”. These guys know how to write solid choruses and ditto hooks yet they throw in just the right amount of grit to keep it from sounding too sweet.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
