Ever feel like drowning out the rest of the world? Well, look no further. Venomous Concept provided the perfect soundtrack to do just that. For their fourth album, these members of Napalm Death, Lock Up and Brutal Truth went to the studio and wrote and recorded the whole thing in just four days. That’s right... a whole album written and recorded in four days. As a result, ‘Politics Versus The Erection’ sounds about as vile, raw and downright nasty as it gets.

From the second they lay into opening track ‘Simian Flu,’ there is no looking back as they pummel you onto your ass with a barrage of drums, keep you down with rumbling basslines and then beat the absolute shit out of you with one vicious riff after the other. Meanwhile vocalist Kevin Sharp screams, growls, barks and makes all kinds of noises that would have normal people running to the doctor. When they do get a bit more expansive on songs like ‘Lemonade’ and the menacing ‘Promise’, it almost sounds accidental.

If grindcore and hardcore ever got it on, Venomous Concept would be the result. The album cover is as subtle as it gets. The rest of ‘Politics Versus The Erection’ is pure fuckin’ annihilation.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
