Spirits is a relatively new straight edge hardcore band out of Boston featuring former members of Test Of Time, No Harm Done, Daytrader, Offsides and Beartrap. They’ve previously released a split 7” as well as a self-titled 7”, but “Discontent” marks the band’s first full-length.

Straight edge hardcore? Haven’t we heard that plenty of times before? Sure, and Spirits is not adding anything new to the genre, but that doesn’t stop them from delivering a solid album with “Discontent”. Other than a small intro here and there, they keep their foot on the gas with plenty of shredding. They spice things up with a nice break here and there and don’t fail to inject the songs with plenty of melody. Recommended for fans of Go It Alone and Count Me Out.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
