On “Freedom”, San Francisco’s SpiralArms keep one eye firmly on the rearview mirror as they churn out their heavy rock songs that sound decidedly retro but which come with a modern production. The riffs by Craig Locicero are kickass and when coupled to Tim Narducci’s balls to the wall vocals, they make for some solid rock n roll with additional bluesy and psychedelic influences.

Occasionally they’ll slug out a little jam session without letting these passages slow down the overall pace of the album. The introduction of keyboards works pretty good as well. It adds yet another layer to songs like “Blackmoon Morning” and “Dropping Like Flies”.

SpiralArms have delivered a highly entertaining rock n roll album and if you’re into the likes of say, Priestess, there’s no going wrong with “Freedom”.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
