Prong was one of those bands that did well for itself in the nineties before simply disappearing from the playing field. Apparently Tommy Victor and co have been trying to make something of a comeback for a couple of albums now but to be honest, this is the first one I’ve heard and if the songs on “Ruining Lives” are anything to go by, I think I’ll keep it that way.

For a dude who was not exactly known for his vocal skills but all the more for his riffs, they sure as hell placed a lot of emphasis on the vocals here while it’s hard to find a decent riff. Instead we are treated to a bunch of songs that come with the kind of sterilized drums, riffs and vocal hooks, that can be found plastered all over every other average-sounding metalcore album.

Basically there is not a lot (if anything) going on here to separate “Ruining Lives” from the shit that bands like Static-X and Powerman 5000 used to churn out.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
