While Epitaph strays ever further from their origins with a roster that features several bands so bad they should be on Victory, Fat Wreck has always stayed the course and kept on releasing albums that are actually worth listening to. San Francisco’s Get Dead is one of the newer names on the roster and on their Fat debut, these guys play tunes that keep their own between Swingin’t Utters, Against Me’s earlier work and Chuck Ragan’s solo output.
While this is not punkrock in a traditional sense, this mix of acoustic cuts (“This One’s For Johnny”) and louder songs that will drive alcohol consumption through the roof in every bar (“Riverbank”) is actually more punkrock than 90% of the albums Epitaph puts out.
