Five years after the first facts, Druglords Of The Avenues are pushing a new album. This side-project led by Swingin’ Utters’ Johnny Peebucks cranks out thirteen tracks on “New Drugs”. Some of them are good (“Brandy Breath”, “Such A Bore”) while others fail to leave much of an impression (the generic hardcore punk of “This Is A Pig” or the reggae of “Don’t Mind Me”). While the songs are a bit all over the place in terms of consistency and quality, the spirit of the Utters is never really far away and the enthusiasm with which this album was made, is hard to overlook.

If you’re into the Utters and can’t wait for them to release a new album, this one might be the fix you’re looking for. Just don’t expect too much of it.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
