Ohio’s Beatnik Termites are back with ‘Sweatin To The Termites,’ their first new album since 2003’s ‘Girl Crazy!’. What changed? Well, other than the line-up not a whole lot apparently.

The Beatnik Termites have always played pop-punk with tons of nods and winks to surf, doo wop and bubblegum pop. And that’s exactly what they do on the new album as well. They bring songs like opener ‘Pet Shop Girl’and ‘Rubber City Roller Girl’ with lots of gusto and three-part harmonies, pine for a lost love in ‘Denise Marie’and express feelings of inadequacy in ‘Out Of My League’.

‘Sweating To The Termites’ comes with tons of catchy melodies, handclaps and more peppy energy than a cheerleading squad. Sounds good, right? Well yeah, except for the fact that - try as I might - I just can’t get into Pat Termite’s vocals. Never have, probably never will.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
