Borne from the ashes of the COVID-19 pandemic, Lions Of West Texas (LWTX) are a Philadelphia-based “power-punk” group fusing together elements of punk, power-pop, and alternative rock for a familiar but new kind of guitar-driven tension.

Lead vocalist-guitarists Jimmy Strummer and Sebastian (Seb) Soroeta first connected in late 2020 while Strummer was preparing to move back to the East Coast after a three-year stint living in western Kentucky; the two bonded over their love of bands like Green Day and Against Me! as well as local heroes from the New Jersey and Philly areas such as The Gaslight Anthem and The Menzingers, teaming up to craft powerful songs that work equally as well for arenas as they do for smaller venues. The pair quickly recruited bass player Tim Brambley and drummer Joe Cicchino to serve as a tight and powerful rhythm section, and now with their debut EP “LWTX” on the horizon – featuring mind-blowing original tracks such as “Wasted Time,” and “Searching Souls” – they’re ready to make a huge impacton Philadelphia, New Jersey, and beyond, showing everyone exactly what they’re made of!

Jimmy Strummer’s abrasive vocal delivery, angst-driven songwriting, and buzzsaw rhythm guitar owe a lot to not only punk veterans like Bob Mould (Hüsker Dü) and Johnny Ramone (The Ramones), but also to older rock legends such as Roger Daltrey (The Who) and Joe Strummer (The Clash, hence the namesake); balancing out Strummer’s jagged-edge approach is Seb Soroeta’s strong but smooth vocal tone, nostalgic and lovelorn songwriting, and crafty lead guitar, which will easily remind listeners of pop-punk romantics like Greg Barnett (The Menzingers) and Dan Andriano (Alkaline Trio); Tim Brambley’s catchy and melodic basslines provide a solid and intriguing foundation to each song, similar to the stylings of John Entwistle (The Who) and Mike Dirnt (Green Day); and filling out the lineup is Joe Cicchino, whose fast and precise drumming style owes a lot to pop-punk pioneers like Bill Stevenson (Descendents) and Tré Cool (Green Day), while still bringing the same thunder found in powerhouses such as Dave Grohl (Nirvana) and John Bonham (Led Zeppelin). When these four powers combine, they are a force to be reckoned with, both on the stage and through your stereo!

Lions Of West Texas’ debut EP “LWTX” will be available on all streaming platforms July 5th 2024, with the first single “Shift(ed)“ out now and the second single "Wasted Time" available June 7th.
