Album Reviews

After having played their final show in 2016, Banquets’ members parted ways on good terms and went their own separate ways. Fast-forward to 2021 when they got back together to practice for a show at the Fest. That ultimately didn’t happen, but those practices did reignite the spark. Soon enough, they found themselves exchanging demos for new songs. The result? The band’s fourth album, ‘Petty Relics,’ out now on Black Numbers.
As soon as ‘Glitter Gone’ fades in, it’s as if all those years in between albums didn’t happen. ‘Petty Relics’ finds Banquets picking up where they left off with ‘Spit At The Sun’. Bright and shiny melodies and melancholy-drenched lyrics that should appeal to fans of bands like The Menzingers and Saves The Day with some Jimmy Eat World and Get Up Kids vibes thrown in for good measure.
