The Sleights and Land of Wolves are proud to announce their first official joint release: King of the Mountain, a 12-inch split EP uniting two bands whose paths have crossed on stages throughout the Pacific Northwest and Colorado.
For The Sleights, the release features the final four songs recorded during the sessions for their 2025 album This One’s Gonna Hurt. Following a string of acclaimed releases, including their latest EP Atari, the band is excited to finally share these remaining tracks.
Today, we are excited to premiere the video for “Nose Dive,” a track that explores the psychological toll of doomscrolling and social media burnout, reflecting on the growing societal and legal fallout surrounding unchecked tech platform practices. "‘Nose Dive’ deals with the hell that is social media," says The Sleights' Luke Blanton. "I deleted all of it off my phone and have never felt better. The song reflects the stress and mental drain of endless doomscrolling.” Watch the video below.
King of the Mountain is also a celebration of both bands’ home regions. The artwork draws on parallels between Colorado and Washington, pairing imagery of Pikes Peak and Mount Rainier with subtle nods to iconic regional beer branding. Those influences extend to the vinyl itself, with two splatter variants inspired by each state’s signature color palette.
The release also marks a milestone for The Sleights as their first pre-order offering through their newly launched official website and e-store, where fans can grab exclusive vinyl variants, past releases, and limited tour merch.
“Our friend Joel Hirsch, lead singer of Land of Wolves, helped us land our first Pacific Northwest show back in 2023, and we immediately hit it off. After multiple runs together in Washington and Colorado, a split release just made sense," says Blanton about the collaboration. "We were beyond excited when Land of Wolves was into the idea. We went all in—matching our cities’ mountains, drawing inspiration from regional beer aesthetics, and designing vinyl variants around those themes. It’s something we’re really proud of."
King of the Mountain is available for pre-order now and arrives May 22. To celebrate, The Sleights and Land of Wolves will reunite for a run of Washington dates this May, with Colorado shows to be announced later in 2026.
