We are happy to premiere ‘Clockwork,’ the latest single by Tiny Blue Ghost. It is the latest song to be taken off the band’s upcoming LP, “Between the Botanicals,” out Aug 26 on Count Your Lucky Stars (pre-order).
"Piggybacking off of Lavender, Clockwork is about the cycles that I put myself in, almost like a mental warfare,” says lead singer/guitarist Marissa Carroll. “I start off hot, lose momentum, and then burn myself out until I am completely unmotivated to do anything (in a sense I guess I feel like a machine?). I also feel like time is simultaneously moving super fast and also dragging on, as if I’m just going through the motions of things. That theme definitely parallels with the music here, it’s soft but then gets explosive and dissolves again in what feels like a giant exhale. It’s a big song."
With the addition of guitarist Kyle McDonough, bassist Andy Vlad, and keyboardist Kristoff Lalicki, the band has found themselves a tightknit unit. On the Count Your Lucky Stars debut LP, vocalist/guitarist Marissa Carroll trades in her college-rock background for more complicated arrangements as Joseph Wright remains the backbone on drums. Gone are the simple pop songs as Tiny Blue Ghost mix elements of pop, indie-rock, prog, and more. Lovingly self-produced by the bands Wright and Carroll to convey exactly what the band was going for.
