They say we all return to our roots at some point, and for Curious Volume that was a return to making music. The Staten Island, NY based band originally formed in 2003 as school friends, changed their name to Everything Ever along the way, put out several releases and toured across the US. Fast forward to 2018, a one off show, and the pandemic hitting, and urge to create came back into focus. At first it was just for fun, writing and playing between life, work, and growing families. Then it turned it an album worth of material, set to be released later this year.
Today, Curious Volume, officially mark their new era with the release of single “Former King.” The track builds off twangy vocals and bright chord progressions navigating through lyrics looking back life’s changes and previous self. Power pop legend Roger Joseph Manning Jr. (Jellyfish, Beck) features on the track performing keyboards and back-up vocals, and it was recorded with Jon Smith and Ben Roth (You, Me, And Everyone We Know, PunchlIne) at The Kaleidoscope.
