San Diego’s Mizery are a defiant powerhouse ready to shake things up with their crossover hardcore sound. Originally breaking out with 2014’s Survive The Vibe EP followed by 2016 full-length Absolute Light (Flatspot Records), Mizery quickly grabbed attention with their groove-driven rhythms and dynamic live show. In December 2023 the unexpected passing of drummer Cayle Sain rattled the music community and understandably put a pause on Mizery. Today the band birth into a new era, announcing their self-titled Mizery EP set for release March 20th through Flatspot Records.

While processing their grief and reflecting, the members of Mizery - vocalist José Luna, guitarists Taylor Parker and Miguel “Mikey” Salazar, and bassist Ahmad Ali - discovered Cayle had taken pre-production demos they had sent him and tracked drums for them in a professional studio. With the help of producer Taylor Young (The Pit), the band was able to obtain these drum tracks and use them for what would become the EP.

Single “The Weapon PT.II,” out now, is the record’s heaviest track loaded with José’s strong rap-sung lyrics, furious riffs that turn into mind blowing solos from Taylor, and Cayle’s intense double bass delivery. The song and much of the EP utilize lyrics as a weapon to invoke change over physical violence. The video for the “The Weapon PT.II” was directed and edited by José under his True Colors Creative Group and gives a look into Mizery’s chaotic live show with allusion to early ‘90s metal and hip-hop videos.
