Remember last July when Nathan Williams showed everyone that he was still indie and got in a fight with his major label? He uploaded the song “Way Too Much” from this then-untitled new album, only to see it get taken down by Warner Bros. I thought it was pretty funny. Williams himself apparently didn’t and took to social media to complain about it all.

Anyway, that was then and this is now. “V” is out and it’s a pretty solid album. Especially if you liked his recent collaboration with Cloud Nothings. He still sounds as if he’s recovering from the worst hangover since the one before it in pretty much every single song, but this time around the songs are faster than before and Williams never sounded better than when he goes from ennui to yet another catchy chorus in the blink of an eye in… well, pretty much every song on here. “Heavy Metal Detox”, “Way Too Much”, “My Head Hurts” might not be the most original songs ever written, but damn… they're so much fun to listen to!

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
