Sisyphus is an unlikely collaboration between singer/songwriter Sufjan Stevens, Anticon rapper Serengeti and beatsmith Ryan Lott (Son Lux) that somehow happened. On their self-titled album this trio deliver some smooth, non-macho hip hop with industrial beats and at times hilarious lyrics (‘singing opera, candelabra/ I'mma get a condom/ Put it on my Mazda’) that is a lot of fun to listen to at times (“Booty Call”, “Rhythm Of Devotion”) and simply doesn’t work at other times (“Calm It Down”, “My Oh My”).

The good moments unfortunately don’t outweigh the less than stellar ones, making this a collaboration that looked better on paper than in reality.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
