Comprised of husband and wife duo Jeff and Katrina Snyder along with drummer Gibran Colbert, Florida’s Expert Timing is a band that proves they didn’t just randomly pick their name. I mean, look at the state of the world... I’m guessing we can all use some Bubblegrunge Power Pop right about now.

The band’s new EP comes with five songs that feel like a summer day, all breezy and sunny and wrapped in bright, shiny melodies. Darker clouds gather when you take a closer look at the lyrics which deal with anything from anxiety and feelings of inadequacy to the pretty self-explanatory closer ‘My Body,’ which comes with the line ‘It’s my body. I’m confused why I have to explain myself to you’.

Clocking in at just over 15 minutes, these five songs don’t wear out their welcome. Jeff and Katrina have a knack for writing catchy hooks and strong melodies, allow them to shine for a bit and then move on to the next thing. It’s a formula that works well for them and probably for fans of The Beths or The Dollyrots and it leads to good things. Which happens to be the name of my personal favorite on this EP.

Lacking the talent to actually play in a band, Tom decided he would write about bands instead. Turns out his writing skills are mediocre at best as well.
